Spa Heilbad Heiligenstadt

Heiligenstadt is the historical capital of the Eichsfeld and combines everything that makes this region so special: historical customs, buildings built in different epochs in a beautiful small town in a charming hilly setting. The Heiligenstadt Spa, which is over a thousand years old, is an extremely friendly and remarkable beauty. Even Theodor Storm, who lived in Heiligenstadt in the middle of the 19th century, knew this charming spot of earth located between the Harz Mountains and the Thuringian Forest. Aside from the famous German author, the sculptor Tilman Riemenschneider, the poet Heinrich Heine and the Brothers Grimm discovered the green and historical gem in the middle of Germany, where everyone must go once in their lives.

Tip for Fairytale Route

You can spend an enchanting time as a family in Heiligenstadt's Fairytale Park, which is located in the immediate vicinity of the Hotel at the Vital Park. Figures from the well-known Grimm tales can be found in a lovingly designed little park - either you become creative yourself or you let the installed sound recordings tell you the fairy tales.

In good weather you can also refresh yourself in the integrated small Kneipp wading pool and perceive the positive effects of the spa during a walk along the small salt works house. After a short stroll from the edge of the city to the centre, one crosses the extensive city park. Past the park pond with its many animal inhabitants, you walk along the historic city wall into the dreamy old town centre.
