Hieronymus Carl Friedrich Baron of Münchhausen once recounted his adventurous stories in hospitable towns on the Weser. Despite being dead for over 200 years, Münchhausen has become a worldwide symbol of the fantastic and the unbelievable. In the Münchhausen Museum in Schulenburg, a building on his estate, you can discover how Münchhausen achieved world fame as the “Liar baron".

Memorabilia from the personal property of Hieronymus von Münchhausen as well as pictures and documents depict important stations of his life. An additional focus of the presentation is the book that brought world fame and immortality to Baron von Münchhausen. More than 700 book editions in 30 languages and illustrations from two centuries document the world-wide and timeless fascination of the stories for people of all ages.
