The Sleeping Beauty castle Sababurg is outstanding. It is the fairytale castle of the Brothers Grimm and impresses visitors with its stronghold location in the Reinhardswald in the Hofgeismar Borough of Sababurg. There are numerous offerings, extending from guided tours and audiences up to magical events that remind you of the beautiful fairy tale “Sleeping Beauty”.
The virgin forest Sababurg, the oldest nature reserve in Hesse with beech, alders and ancient oaks, some of them over 800 years old, and the wildlife park Sababurg, the oldest zoological park in Europe, draw old and young equally into their spell.

In Hofgeismar's town centre you can take a guided round tour or explore on your own initiative through the quiet old-town alleys with their historical half-timbered buildings and many landmarks. Whether sightseeing, shopping, strolling or visiting – something for everyone is offered here. Incidentally, parking is free of charge in the town centre.
Uncounted hiking and trekking paths, splendid nature experiences during the entire year and plenty of space for sporting activities such as biking, canoeing or sailplaning makes for a diversified stay.

Alive and not at all sleepy is the Hesse Day Town 2015.
